Lyrics

Synced lyrics, the karaoke view, your own lyrics, timing offsets and local translation.

Where lyrics come from

The daemon looks lyrics up on LRCLIB by title, artist and duration, then by a search within two seconds of the duration. It caches what it finds in your encrypted database and remembers misses for seven days. Lyrics you write yourself take priority over every provider.

Nuvo reads plain text, LRC, enhanced LRC with word timing, TTML, QRC and richsync lyrics. A .lrc file beside a local track beats online lyrics.

Karaoke view

Press F to open the full-screen lyrics view. The current line is large and in full ink. You choose how it lights up in the view or in Settings, Playback. The colour changes flat, with no glow. When the lyrics carry word timing, Nuvo uses it to follow the words as they are sung. The cover colours the background.

  • LineHighlights the whole line.
  • WordHighlights only the word being sung.
  • FillFills words as they are sung, sung words stay lit.
  • StepLights word after word, sung words stay lit.

Offset

If lyrics run early or late, nudge the offset in the lyrics view. Nuvo stores it per track in the daemon, so it survives restarts.

Your own lyrics

The lyrics editor lets you paste LRC or plain text, and tap along to time plain text. A saved text beats all providers. You can remove it to go back to online lyrics.

Translation

Nuvo translates lyrics line by line through a local model on your machine. The endpoint must be on loopback (127.0.0.1). Nothing else leaves your computer, and the request carries the lyric lines and nothing more.

  • Cyrillic lyrics go into English. Other lyrics go into Russian.
  • The translator is optional. Without one, the translate action tells you so.
  • Translations are cached.
